Video of my brother Mike, Katie, and my niece Emily

katyand mike
This is a video that mom took of Katie and my niece Emily talking to Uncle Mike about Heaven. (Turn your volume all the way up, as the sound quality isn't the best.) They were talking about the streets of gold, and Katie looked at Mike and said, "And you're going to be there soon", and then she hugged him so sweetly. It was a very precious time. We had a wonderful "Celebration Weekend" with Mom, Greg's family, my Aunt Gail, and of course Mike's family, all together. I'll be adding some pictures of our time together soon. I thank you all for your prayers. Mike is still hanging in there, but he's wanting and he's ready to go to Heaven. He's said all his goodbyes and he's anxious to say "hello" to Jesus face to face. I'm still here in South Carolina, and Mike(my husband:) will be joining us here tomorrow. My kids have really been missing their daddy-and I have REALLY been missing my husband!

Quick Update

I just wanted to quickly update those of you who take the time to view our blog:) We just had a wonderful IH Convention with Brother Bill Snider. It was a wonderful time of being in God's presence, and it ended far too soon. God met with us in every service, and it was a time of much needed refreshing.
The kids and I leave for South Carolina early Thursday morning to fly to see my brother for the last time (on this earth, anyway). My brother, Mike, is home from the hospital with no plans of returning. They had to call in Hospice yesterday, and after an evaluation, they are giving him 1-2 weeks to live. My mom is there with my brother's family, and my younger brother, Greg, and his family, as well as my Aunt Gail are arriving on Thursday in SC as well. So we'll have one more time of being together as a family before my brother's homegoing. We're going to try to get a family picture, if it all works out - so I will be posting those pictures sometime within the next week.
We would appreciate everyone's prayers. Thanks!
Until then...

Smokey the Bear at the new Firehouse

On Saturday, there was a parade in Hotchkiss. After the parade, Smokey the Bear was making his appearance at the new Firehouse, so Jodi's family and we went to check it out! The kids enjoyed the snacks, climbing on the firetruck, and watching the firemen use the "Jaws of Life" on an old car. But the highlight (at least for my kids:) was getting to see Smokey the Bear! Here are Katie and Hunter, along with 3 of Jodi's kids, Josiah, Jeralyn, and Jeshanah.
Thanks again, Jodi, for the pictures!

Perseid Meteor Shower

It is about 1:00AM here in Colorado, and my kiddos are just drifting off to dreamland after spending the last hour or more watching the Perseid meteor shower - or as Hunter called it, "God's fireworks"! It was a beautiful, restful family time - all of us stretched out on the deck with blankets and pillows (and dog), listening to the peaceful chirping of the crickets - Hunter insisted that the crickets were singing, "Hallelujah, Jesus!" - and watching the glorious nighttime "fireworks" display. It reminded me once again just how much "the heavens declare the glory of God"! We saw 50-60 different meteors between the four of us, and Katie spotted about 15 on her own.

The Road Less Travelled

"I took the road less travelled by, and it has made all the difference." This quote from Robert Frost has often reminded me of the choice I made, almost 20 years ago, to follow Jesus in the holiness way. It certainly has not always been the most popular way, or the easiest way - but it has been the very best way, and "I don't regret one mile that I have travelled with the Lord." It has made all the difference in my life, and the lives of my children. May your walk with the Lord lead you on that straight and narrow way that leads to the Celestial City of God.

Vacation Bible School - 2007

Daily Vacation Bible School - 2007 - Western Colorado Holiness Chapel

Brenda (Elder) Howell is heading up our Bible School this year, and the theme is "Soldiers of the Cross". The kids are enjoying the continued story of "Pilgrim's Progress", crafts, snacks, and games. V.B.S. workers include Brad Howell, Jodi Randel, Lydia Rhodes, some of the Young People from the church, and myself.

(Thanks, Jodi, for e-mailing me these pictures:)

My Brothers - Mike and Greg

Many of you know that my big brother, Mike, has non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. This is a picture of Mike and my younger brother Greg, when Greg went to South Carolina to visit. I had been in SC a couple of weeks earlier. Mike's prognosis isn't good, medically speaking, but he's trusting in the Lord for the final word! We would appreciate your prayers.

Todd and Elizabeth (Smith) Hamilton's Family - It recently doubled, as you can see!

My First Blog!

August 5, 2007

Welcome to the first official Sayler Family blog! I have no idea what I'm doing, so bear with me! Our family of 4 consists of Mike (my wonderful, godly, hardworking husband), Kim (that's me, stay-at-home mom, homeschooler, and devoted wife), Katie (our ambitious, outgoing 5 year old), and Hunter (our incredibly ornery, but extremely lovable 3 year old)! We live in beautiful western Colorado - Paonia, to be exact. Mike and I were married February 9, 2001. Katie arrived on April 13, 2002, and Hunter made his first appearance on April 11, 2004. Both were born at home, but Hunter had to be transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, CO due to his being born with a Cleft Lip/Palate.

We love hunting, hiking, fishing, camping, and all things outdoorsy! We attend a wonderful holiness church - Western Colorado Holiness Chapel, pastored by Nathan and Amy Bryant. There, Mike is on the Board, as well as being an usher. I am in charge of the Children's Ministry as well as being on the Song Committee. Katie is homeschooling and is starting the 1st grade. She loves singing and music and began piano lessons in February of this year. Hunter is pre-schooling at home and loves to do anything that involves the outdoors and LOTS of activity! I stay busy helping Mike remodel our fixer-upper, homeschooling the kids, tending to the animals (dogs, cats, and chickens!), and attempting to keep my house clean! Mike, when he's not working in the coal mine, loves to be out scouting, hunting, fishing, hiking, camping - you get the idea!

I know this is more like a newsletter, but I wanted to bring everyone up to speed on our lives. More to come...
